Introducing The Challenger Trust

CT is the parent charitable trust to CMAT and is a Registered Charity (No. 1068226) set up to help young people make new beginnings. To raise their aspirations, learn life-long skills and improve their educational and employment opportunities through promoting, commissioning and evaluating learning outside the classroom. It was established in 1998 and has been working in some of the most socio-economically deprived areas of the UK for over 14 years. The commissioned personal development programmes and the individual expeditions funded by CT enable young people who face many personal challenges to reach their potential outside the classroom environment.

CT have been working in some of the most socio-economically deprived areas of the UK since 1998. In addition to helping many tens-of-thousands of young people achieve more than they thought was possible, CT have also enabled hundreds of organisations to achieve their corporate, social responsibility (CSR) aims.

Learning outside the classroom is something that the highest performing schools have embraced successfully for good reason and the Challenger Trust’s vision is to help make this opportunity accessible for all young people in any type of school or out of school.

CT achieve this by working in two ways:

  • Helping primary and secondary schools to create and provide an affordable, deliverable and highly impactful integrated programme of learning outside the classroom. Where funding support is required, CT can help through bursary schemes;
  • Directly supporting young people and youth groups to help achieve their learning outside the classroom aspirations or individual challenges who may not otherwise be able to fund themselves.

CT encourages organisations, companies, individuals and Trusts to support the trust financially to achieve the stated charitable aims. CT can ensure programmes offered to young people are in line with charitable objectives in other organisations

CT encourages Schools, colleges, youth groups and individual young people to contact us for support in making your learning outside the classroom experience as impactful, rewarding and affordable as possible.and provides outdoor education to children in socio-economically deprived areas of the UK.
